Avery Berkel Range of XM retail scales

2010-2011

The project was taken from initial brief, through user surveys to define the problem statement, market analysis, idea generation andinitial CAD layouts for a range of 8 modular product variants. This was translated into a series of 'A' Class surface models which were digitally and physically visualized for customer validation. The core display adjustment mechanism, common to the range was also developed and patented. One of the product variants, the XM600 bakery printer, was developed in totality from the block CAD data through to final production. This involved daily liaison with a number of Chinese tool manufacturers, specifically Kenmould in Ningbo and Inplast in Suzhou.
Wherever possible components were standardized, mouldings reused and cost driven out to meet the client’s and market cost targets.

Now used in Waitrose and Tescos nationally in the UK
